Brief
Create a package for a product of your choosing where the main illustration from your previous assignment would be appropriate s in illustration and part of the branding for that product. You may use all or a portion of the portrait that you choose.
Step III—Package
Pick either the grayscale or color portrait to use for the package design assignment found Here.
Goals for this Step
- Create a unified Composition
- Integrate the typography with the entire composition
- Choose meaningful quotes where the words have a relationship/meaning to one another.
Process
- Complete both the Grayscale and Color Posterization drawings from the 2 Portraits assignment first.
- Then Do “Save As” for each and rename the file
- Choose either the color self-portrait or the gray scale portrait as the main illustration for this package assignment.
- Choose 1 of the package dielines from either of the 2 Box Dieline links below.
- Create a new document size that is 24″ wide x whatever size you need for the height. You will be printing to 24 inch wide enhanced matte paper on a roll.
- Place your chosen dieline in the template layer of Illustrator similar to what you did with the head template.
- Trace the dieline, paying close attention to cut (solid) and fold (dashed lines.
- Make use of Illustrators “Snap To” functions.
- Zoom in for greater accuracy.
- Hold the shift key to constrain drawn lines to perfectly straight lines.
- Think about what product would be a logical choice to package and “matches up” with the style of your image as a branding element.
- add a headline and other necessary information to the package
- add any additional graphic elements as a means of extending the look/style/ or visual brand of the product, for example:
- ingredients/materials
- sizes or quantities
- branding
- Name of Product
- Company Name
- slogan
- other images
- Bar Code Generator

Time to Print!
There are 3 main differences from how you printed the Portraits assignment.
- the first is that you will be printing from the Epson SC-P9000 printer (the big one at the back of the Photo Studio)
- The second difference is the paper size. You will be printing to 24 inch wide Enhanced Matte roll paper
- The third difference is because of the first two. You will need to pick a different ICC profile that coincides with with the different printer and the different paper.
so, the profile to use, now looks like this:
