Writing Assignment 1:
Your thoughtful answers to this questions ultimately form the basis of your artist/designer philosophy.
In separate essays, answer each of the following questions;
- “What is Art?”
- “What is Design?”
- “What is Craft?”
Your answers to the separate questions, “What is Art?” What is Design? What is Craft? should each be written in short essay form. Write this in a word processing software program such as MS Word or Google Docs where you can check spelling and grammar.
Each answer should be approximately a half-page, single-spaced essay or longer in length. Make your answers reflect how each of these topics affect you personally, not a general answer about how anyone might feel about them. Even though these essays are your opinion (not in the form of a formal research paper) do not use phrases such as “in my opinion”, or “I think”, etc. The papers you are writing are your personal opinions and written in the first person, therefore you don’t need to say it. Instead, simply state your thoughts.
Also, do not say phrases such as “Art can be many things” or “Art means different things to different people”. Because it is about you and not anyone else, stick to what each of these mean specifically to you. The purpose of the paper is to say what YOU think about the topic, give your interpretations of these subjects. It is not necessary to tell the reader that it could mean many other things in addition to yours.
Upload/Add each of your written essays separately to your WIX portfolio site. Locate them under the WRITINGS tab. (we can refer to this WRITINGS tab as a Parent tab. All articles or images that are located beneath a Parent tab can therefor be called “Children”.)
- you must create the Parent page first (in this example that would be the “writings” Page. (USE THE ADD BUTTON)
- Create the separate pages for each essay pasting in appropriate content.
- If you wish to reorder or change the order that the children appear, simply drag them above or below the other “children” in the menu list.
